SBHS region final

The Stone Bridge Bulldogs, shown here waiting to receive their Region 5C championship trophy, will aim to win another postseason title Saturday in the Virginia Class 5 boys' basketball championship game.

The Stone Bridge Bulldogs overcame a four-point deficit in the final minute of regulation to defeat host Patrick Henry 67-66 in the Virginia Class 5 boys' basketball semifinals Wednesday night in Roanoke.

Trailing 66-62 with 53 seconds left, Stone Bridge junior Dylan Hundertmark knocked down a long 3-pointer to pull the Region 5C champion Bulldogs within one.

After Patrick Henry came up empty at the foul line, Hundertmark delivered a nice pass to senior Dayvon Faulk in the low post for the go-ahead field goal. Patrick Henry's 3-pointer attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.

Hundertmark finished with 14 points, while Faulk scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore Sam Whitehead paced the Bulldog scoring with 15 points and senior Jerico Limcaoco added 13.

Stone Bridge (15-1) advances to host Green Run -- a 64-50 semifinal winner of L.C. Bird -- in the Class 5 state championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Stellar seasons for Region 3B boys' champion Independence, Region 4C girls' champion Loudoun Valley and Region 5C girls' champion Potomac Falls each concluded on Wednesday following state semifinal losses.
